# R5 control and landing-gear mechanism prototype Open `VTOL-R5-controls.f3d` in Fusion. Five separate moving components have revolute joints: right/left ailerons ±20°, right/left elevators ±15°, rudder ±25°. In Fusion's Browser expand Joints, right-click the appropriate hinge and use **Drive Joint**. Start at zero, move a few degrees, then return to zero. The session-only FusionAI control dialog is a convenience; the saved native joints work without that dialog. `motion-clearance-report.json` records 20 tested poses, actual occurrence transformations and interference against the corresponding fixed parent surface. These are discrete checks, not a continuous sweep or an analysis against every component. All tested poses passed in the exact document owning the joints after correcting a document-selection bug. Originals remain preserved. The wheel arrangement is a three-wheel layout with 70 mm wheel envelopes. R5's visible wheel axles/struts are conceptual envelopes; use the separate PRINT-A1 fork development part for a candidate M3 metal axle interface. The printed fork is not yet integrated into the R5 native assembly and is not load qualified. The surfaces can move in CAD. Existing servo rods/horns remain layout references, **not a solved constant-length servo linkage**. Physical actuation still needs horn holes, clevises, retained metal hinge pins, adjustable pushrods, servo travel calibration and a checked load path. The small 1.7 mm hinge bores are printer-sensitive; do not assume an A1 can reproduce them without drilling/fit coupons. For an eventual bench test: remove every propeller, disconnect propulsion power, center servos with a compatible servo tester and appropriately rated separate servo supply, attach adjustable linkages with the surfaces neutral, and increase travel gradually while checking for binding. Test both elevator halves together and opposite aileron movement. CAD angle limits are starting test limits, not approved flight throws. No physical bench, strength, landing-drop or flight test has been run.
